Adelie was chasing the fish around as Lalaithion was reeling it in, when suddenly he jerked the line high. Adelie looked up just in time to be smacked in the face with the squirming fish. She reeled backwards out of surprise and then fell down into the water, catching the hem of her skirt on a submerged log. She struggled to get back up, but the snag in her skirt kept her submerged. She flailed around a bit before she decided 'to heck with it' and tore the branch out. She resurfaced, gasping for air and looked at the damage. The bottom of her dress was torn up, but only that. Thankfully the branch had been sort of rotten so it didn't do too much damage. She would just have to hem it up about four inches.
When Adelie looked back over to Lalaithion, the fish was flopping around on the dirt next to him. She ran up to him and jumped up and down in excitement over the fish. "Okay, now what?" She said with a grin.

Lalaithion watched as Adelie fell, feeling horrible. He was never going to fish again. "Are you okay?" he asked, for it seemed that she was stuck. He continued to watch her struggle, and then finally she made it out of the lake, a little beat up but in one piece, thankfully. "Er, I don't know. Should we let it go?" he asked, looking at the fish and then back up at her. "I don't want it.."

"I'm fine, but are you? You look positively flustered!" Adelie laughed. "After all this trouble this little guy deserves a name... hmmm... howbout... Phineas... it sounds fishy, huh?" She picked up the line and worked the hook out of its mouth and then handed it to Lalaithion. "I think you should throw little Phinny back out, seeing as you were the one who caught him." She laughed again, thinking about how ridiculous she must have looked when she was flailing about.

"I'm fine. Just uh.. yea," he said, laughing and nodding his head. "Hm, Phineas.." he repeated, tilting his head as he looked at the fish. "That sounds like a very good name for him." He nodded his head, taking the fish as she handed it to him and holding onto to it tightly so it wouldn't squirm away. "Oh, but you helped! You can help let him go.." He held the fish back out to her, not knowing how exactly she could help let it go. They'd better decide soon, or the poor fish would die from lack of water.

Adelie laughed again "All I did was get his with a fish! But alright, we can let him go together!" Saying a final farewell, Adelie placed Phineas in the water and watched him swim off. She was glad she had walked over and asked what Lalaithion was going to do with that fish, otherwise she wouldn't have had this much fun! But then a thought struck her...
"Hey Lalaithion... your name is a bit of a mouthful... do you have a nickname?" She pondered what it could be... L? L-dawg? .... Lala?!

Yea, but.. I'm sure that wasn't very pleasant. And I feel kind of bad," Lalaithion said laughing and helping her let Phineas go. He was also glad that he had met this girl, for otherwise he probably would have had a heart attack when it came to actually reeling in the fish. And she was rather funny, too.
"No, I don't really have any nicknames. But feel free to come up with your own, if you want," he said, wondering what kind of nickname she could come up with. Something like fish boy crossed his mind and he regretted telling her to come up with her own.

"Hmmm" Adelie hummed as she thought: L? Naw... that's a bit weird... L-dawg is weirder... uhhhh.... She wondered what she would think if she picked a nickname like fish boy... but that was too wordy, a nickname is supposed to be short sweet and to the point... "Laaaaa..." She started to say, drawing out the syllable as she tried to think of something to put onto the end. However, finding nothing she finished with the first think that came to mind "...la. Lala. That will be your nickname." She giggled.

Lalaithion laughed as he watched her try to think of a nickname, plopping down in the grass and looking up at her. Lots of people had tried to give him nicknames and failed, so he wasn't sure she'd succeed in finding a decent one. "Lala?" he said, looking at her. She had to be kidding. "Ummm.. no." He laughed lightly and shook his head.

"No no no!" Adelie said adamantly, completely serious about the nickname "Lala is a great nickname! At least it's better than the others i came up with... But seriously! What could you have against such a great name?" She was trying desperately to get him to accept the nickname... or at least say it so much that he would start attributing it to himself and thus get him to answer to it somehow... she just had to repeat it constantly from now on.

"It sounds like a girls name! Or that creepy yellow thing on that one kids tv show.. but more importantly, it sounds like a girls name," Lalaithion said, crossing his arms and shaking his head. There was no way she was ever going to call him Lala. "What if I were to call you.. um.." He furrowed his eyebrows as he thought of a boy-sounding nickname. ".. Spike," he finished lamely. Girly nicknames were easier to think up, he decided.

Adelie giggled "Spike? That isn't even part of my name in any manner! Whereas Lala is part of yours. Mine is much more plausible! Besides Lala doesn't have to sound girly! Just think, you could make a difference in the world by having that name attributed to you! People wouldn't think of that yellow thing or about girls because they will think about you instead! But if you really want to call me Spike, go on ahead, I won't take offense to it! We're friends right?" Adelie wondered if it was a bit too much saying that they were friends right after they met, but personally, she believed that being hit in the face with a fish is a good enough cause for friendship as any. Besides, no matter what he did, he would never make her stop calling him Lala.

"Yea, but.. but.." Lalaithion groaned, not being able to think up an argument for that. "Fine, call me Lala. But I won't like it." He shook his head again and sighed. Of all the nicknames she could come up with.. Lala? He'd rather be called fish boy for the rest of his life. "I think I'll just call you Adelie until I can come up with an equally embarrassing nickname for you." He grinned and nodded, although he didn't think he'd be able to come up with a name to embarrass this girl. But he'd sure try. "Of course we're friends. If that's okay with you, anyway."

Adelie broke out in a huge grin. "My first friend here! YAY!" She didn't even care if she looked like a little kid. "And you can call me anything you want because you are putting up with my nickname! Feel free to call me girl-with-head-that-has-been-hit-by-fish... though that really defeats the purpose of nicknames... but if that's what you want to feel like calling me, its fine! Because we are friends and it doesn't matter!" She was so enthralled about having a friend she was tearing up. It was another one of her weird habits... she teared really easily. When she was sad, when she was happy, excited, or moved by something. "I'm so glad we are friends!" She exploded exuberantly.

Lalaithion laughed and shook his head, also glad that he had made a friend. "Hmm, maybe I will call you fishhead. That is shorter, yes?" he said grinning and sticking his tongue out at her. When he noticed she was tearing up, he didn't know whether to laugh or be scared. Neither seemed fitting, so he just stared at her for a minute before poking her forehead lightly. "I'm glad we're friends too, but get a grip Fishhead. I'm not that wonderful."

"Oh... right." Adelie said with a laugh as she wiped the tears off of her face "Uh, I just get easily moved. Those were tears of joy just now. And Fishhead is fine with me! It will make an interesting story, huh?" As she thought about how happy she was, she began to tear up again. "Aaaaah. Now look what you made me do." Adelie was wiping her face like mad, then decided to wipe her face with her sleeve. However, she forgot that she was soaking wet and covered in mud, so all she managed to do was get mud all over her eyes, blinding her. "AH! Lala! Do you have a tissue or something?" Adelie asked.
